Community Service - Leisure Options

SESSION 1:
Being a volunteer means to me to go out of your way to help people less fortunate than you and expect nothing in return expect self-satisfaction.
I’ve learnt that disabled people are like you and me. I learnt they have wonderful personalities and have a great attitude towards life. It is very unlucky they won’t have the opportunities like we will in life but still look at it as a glass half full not half empty.
My most enjoyable moment throughout the trip would be socializing with them at the start and playing Uno with Daniel and Jess. It was interesting talking with them and listening to what they talked about. Some of them were very repetitive and kept saying the same thing over, others would just keep and keep talking and others were quiet and didn’t say a word but it was great fun having a conversation with different people. Uno was also great fun and a good laugh. Daniel was really getting into it and it was funny what he’d say every turn before he put down his card.
My least enjoyable moment of the trip would be preparing the lunch. I was in charge of tossing the salads but I found it quite boring because everyone was busy and there weren’t many people to talk to.
SESSION 2:
Today the Leisure Options people came to Wambana Campus and had lunch. It was great fun and a good laugh throughout the day. We first waited for everyone to arrive and then we stood around and had a chat with everyone. Most of the people there I knew except there were a couple of new people like Cameron, Roger, Nathan and many more. We then got the ingredients ready for the pizza oven and then started cooking them. It was a fairly good lunch and nice because everyone shared pizzas around. After lunch we had the sport games. I had my Wardli in my team plus Jess, Daniel, Wayne and Moffins! After, I pieced some of the mosaic with Cameron and Anthony which was good fun. I needed to help Anthony a bit because he left fairly big holes between each piece he put in but it was good fun and a good way to finish the day. On the way out Anthony jumped up on the chin-up bar and pulled 2 out of nowhere which I was impressed about.
